Modern television is subject to ever increasing quality demands. | Function | | In plasma technology, electrical energy is used to make gas glow: the same principle as is used in neon lights. Two glass plates, divided into hundreds of thousands of tiny cells (pixels) containing inert gas - are pressed together. Two parallel electrodes are fixed to the inner side of the front plate. As soon as the electrodes generate a current, the electric surface discharge on the protective layer causes ultraviolet light to be emitted. The UV rays then activate the phosphorus coating of the cells or pixels. The light emitted passes through the glass plate to create the picture. Colour images are created by using different colours of phosphorus. The result is a stunningly flat screen, combined with strikingly brilliant images. |
| Quality | | Arnold Glas produces the front plates for these screens in the form of a laminated unit comprising an interior pane with an insulating, visually attractive coating and an external non-reflecting screen-printed pane projecting over all four edges. The coating on the inner pane faces the laminate and is under electric contact. These glass plates comply with the most stringent electromagnetic screening requirements and provide flawless viewing pleasure. |
